Week 22: Flowerpress

A few months ago I bought a flowerpress on a fleamarket. When I was a kid, I filled books with flowers and leafs, but I can't remember the result... Maybe because I never looked at it again. There should be a lot of flora in my parents bookcase, if we ever have to re-grow the planet with plants, that's where you should look first ;-) 
It almost happened again: forgetting about the flowerpress. I left it for months. Then, one day, I made a to-do-list (that always works for me), and I did it! I also took some pics. And this is the result. For a first time, I'm satisfied with the result.
I filled the flowerpress again with all kinds of flowers and plants from our garden. I'll try to open it sooner :-)

Een paar maanden geleden heb ik op een rommelmarkt een bloemenpers gekocht. Als kind, heb ik behoorlijk wat boeken gevuld met bloemen en bladeren. Ik kan me alleen niet herinneren wat het resultaat was... Waarschijnlijk omdat ik er nooit meer naar omkeek. Als we ooit de aarde opnieuw van flora moeten voorzien, weet je waar je zoeken moet ;-)
Maar het gebeurde bijna weer: ik vergat de bloemenpers! Op een dag maakte ik een to-do lijstje en toen lukte het toch nog :-) Ik heb er zelfs aan gedacht om wat foto's te maken.
Ik ben best tevreden met het resultaat, voor een eerste keer.
Ik heb de bloemenpers meteen weer gevuld met allerlei bloemen en bladeren uit onze eigen tuin. Ik zal proberen sneller naar het resultaat te kijken :-)

Week 21,5: Spring!

De lente is eindelijk begonnen in Nederland! Joehoe :-)

Week 21: Color & Style

Door de jaren heen probeer ik mijn eigen stijl te vinden. Een lastige opgave... Qua kleding en ook qua huisinrichting. Het probleem is dat ik zoveel dingen leuk vind.
Als ik bij iemand thuis ben die het huis helemaal romantisch heeft ingericht vind ik dat heel leuk en wil ik het ook. Ben ik bij iemand die meer voor designklassiekers en retro gaat, vind ik dat weer helemaal gaaf en wil ik dat ook. Maar 1 ding weet ik wel zeker, ik wil een gezellig huis.
Hier een klein kijkje in de kast bij mij, met de stijl die, denk ik, het meest bij past. Ik weet alleen nog niet hoe ik het moet noemen.

Over the years I'm trying to find my own style. No easy task, I think ... With clothes but also in home decoration. The problem is that there are so many styles I like.
If I'm in someone's house who has decorated the house completely romantic, I like it and I think I want it too. When I'm in someone's house styled with design classics and retro stuff, I find that quite cool and I want that too. But 1 thing I know for sure, I want a cosy & comfortable house.Here a small glimpse into one of my closets, with the style that I think most fits me. I just don't know what to name it.

week 20,5: HEMA ontwerpwedstrijd

Vandaag kreeg ik een brief van de HEMA dat ik 'helaas' niet bij de prijswinnaars zat voor de ontwerpwedstrijd... :-( Ik kreeg een bon voor een appeltaart, als troost.

Maar dat betekend wel dat ik dit nu met jullie kan delen :-) Dit was de opdracht: HEMA is op zoek naar een nieuwe held; een tijdloos product, bijzonder door zijn eenvoud, onderscheidend door zijn vormgeving en populair bij onze klanten.

Dit was mijn inzending en presentatie:

Today there was a letter from HEMA in the mail. (HEMA is a department store). Unfortunally I wasn't one of the winners of the design contest I participated. They gave me an applepie to cheer me up :-)
On the bright site, now I can share my design with you. These were the instructions: HEMA is looking for a new hero; a timeless product, special because of it's simplicity, distinctive because of it's design and populair with our customers.

Hoe maakt deze boodschappenlijst je leven gemakkelijker?
Boodschappen doen vind ik altijd een stressvol klusje. Ik doe het liefst 1 keer in de week boodschappen. Door de jaren heen heb ik voor mezelf een ‘Ultieme Boodschappenlijst’ ontwikkeld om het zo stressloos en snel mogelijk te laten verlopen, zodat ik de rest van het weekend vrij heb voor leuke dingen.

How does this shopping list make your life easier?
I always find shopping a stressful chore. I try to do it once a week. Over the years I designed myself an "Ultimate Shopping List" to make it as quick and stress free as possible, so I can spend the rest of the weekend with fun stuff.

De lijst is verdeeld in tweeën: De boodschappenlijst en de weekplanner. Aan de hand van de weekplanner, maak je de boodschappenlijst.

The list is divided in two: The shoppinglist and a week-planner. 

Eerst vul je in wat je wilt eten deze week bij de weekplanner. Daarna kun je heel gemakkelijk alle ingrediënten voor de maaltijden invullen onder de kopjes van de boodschappenlijst.

First you write down what you want to cook for diner the next week at the week-planner. And from that you fill in the groceries you need under the headings of the shopping list.

Knip de weekplanner eraf. De boodschappenlijst neem je mee naar de winkel, waar je razendsnel je boodschappen doet omdat alle afdelingen aparte lijstjes hebben en je dus niet lang hoeft te zoeken.

Cut off the week-planner. You can take the shopping list to the store where you’ll do your shopping fast and efficient, because all departments have separate lists so you do not have to search long.

De weekplanner hang je op een handige plek (in de keuken bijvoorbeeld) zodat iedereen in het huishouden kan zien wat er voor eten bereidt kan worden, op welke dag.

You can put the week-planner on a convenient location (in the kitchen for example) so that everyone in the household can see what’s for dinner, on which day.

week 20: Hoooked Zpaggetti basket

Nadat ik de regenboog-kussens had afgemaakt, was ik wel toe aan een kleiner haak-project. Ik had nog een flinke bol Hoooked Zpaggetti liggen en dacht, laat ik daar een mandje van gaan haken. Ik gebruik het als broodmandje, maar je kan er natuurlijk van alles in bewaren.
Toen ik de foto's maakte, liep Huub om me heen. Hij vond het heel interessant, gooide de broodjes door de tuin en at er er ook 1 op... en gebruikte het mandje als hoed. Vele mogelijkheden met het mandje dus ;-)

After finishing the Rainbow-pillowcases, I was ready for a smaller crochet project. There was some Hoooked Zpaggetti lying around and I thought, why not make that into a basket. So I did. I use the basket for bread, but you can use it for many other things.
When I was taking the pictures, Huub was there too. He thought it was very interesting, threw de slices of bread around the garden and ate one as well... After that he used the basket as a hat. As I said: You can use it for many things ;-)

Week 19: End of the Rainbow

Jippie! Het tweede regenboog kussen is af! Ik ben erg blij met het resultaat, nu wil ik nog een bijpassende nieuwe bank ;-) 

Yippee! I finished the second rainbow-pillowcase! I’m very happy with the result, as a finishing touch I just want a matching new couch ;-)
