Baby muts en sjaal

Voor Lola haakte ik deze muts en sjaal. Erg makkelijk te maken, ik heb alleen maar stokjes gedaan :) het strikje vond ik een leuke toevoeging. Toen het setje klaar was, bedacht ik me, dat kleine baby's geen sjaal dragen... Ach, wel leuk voor de foto :)

I've crocheted this hat and scarf for Lola. Really easy to make! I thought the bow was a nice addition. When I finished it, I thought: little babies don't wear scarfs... Oh well, it makes a nice picture :)

Gehaakte teddybeer / Crochet teddybear

Het leek me een leuk idee om een knuffeldier voor de baby te haken. Ik had nog heel veel restjes katoen liggen van allerlei andere projectjes. Ik zocht eerst op Pinterest naar een leuk patroon, maar besloot toch om zelf wat te bedenken.
Nou, dat had ik nogal onderschat... Ik ben dol op haken, maar knuffels zijn niet mijn ding. De knuffelbeer is nu klaar, maar ik doe het niet snel nog een keer. Het duurde langer dan ik van plan was en ik ben gewoon heel slecht in het tellen van toeren en vooral in minderen.
Ik ben niet helemaal tevreden met het resultaat. Het hoofd, lichaam en armen vind ik leuk, alleen de benen vind ik niet mooi gelukt. Maar de beste jury voor een knuffel is natuurlijk een kind. Dus vroeg ik Huub wat hij van de teddybeer vond, zijn antwoord was een dikke knuffel geven aan de teddybeer :) Dus misschien is het dan toch nog een geslaagd project geworden.

I thought it was a good idea to crochet a stuffed animal for the baby. I still had some leftover yarn (cotton) from other projects to make it. First I looked on Pinterest for a pattern, but then I decided to think of something myself.
Well, I underestimated that… I love to crochet, but a stuffed animal isn’t my thing. I’ve made a teddybear, it’s finished now, but I won’t be doing this again soon.
I’m not very satisfied with the result. The head, arms and body are ok, but I don’t like the legs. But the best jury is, off course, a kid. So I showed it to Huub and he instantly gave it a big hug! :) So maybe it’s good enough anyway.

Babyslaapzak / Baby sleeping bag

Nog een paar weken en dan ben ik bij m'n uitgerekende datum (17 september). De to-do list werk ik zo langzamerhand af. Gelukkig is het echt noodzakelijke af :)

Van de week heb ik ook het gehaakte slaapzakje afgemaakt. Ik schreef al eerder over het slaapzakje hier.

Het slaapzakje heb ik gehaakt met Katia Inca (haaknaald 8). Aan de binnenkant van het slaapzakje heb ik zachtroze baby velours stof genaaid, omdat ik toch bang was dat de wol te kriebelig zou zijn voor een teer babyhuidje. Verder heb ik de sluiting gemaakt met 5 houten knopen, die makkelijk door de dwarse stokjes van het haakwerk gaan, dus ik heb geen extra lusjes gemaakt. En als finishing touch een grote pompon op de hoodie. Ik ben zelf erg blij met het resultaat en hopelijk zal ons meisje er straks niet al te snel uit groeien :)

My due date is coming closer (september 17th). The end of my to-do list is coming closer. The real neccesary things are, thank god, done :)

Last week I finished the baby sleeping bag I was working on.

I've crocheted the sleeping bag with Katia Inca (needle 8). I've hand sewed some velvet baby fabric on the inside of the sleeping bag, I think the wool was a little too itchy for a delicate babyskin. I've used 5 big wooden buttons to close it on the side, they fit easily through the double crochet stitches on the side. And as a finishing touch, I put a big pompon on the hoodie.

I'm very pleased with the result, I hope our little girl will fit in it for a while :)

Grannysquare babyblanket

Yes! De babydeken is af!

Vanaf het moment dat ik wist dat ik zwanger was, wist ik, ik wil een mooie deken haken voor de baby.

Eerst op zoek naar materiaal. Ik wilde natuurlijk materiaal dat niet te warm is, die keuze was dus snel gemaakt: katoen. Maar ik wilde liever niet met haaknaald 3, omdat ik bang was dat het dan nooit af zou komen. Ik vond bij wolplein.nl Drops Paris, katoen die je haakt met haaknaald 5.

Yeah! I finished the baby blanket!

From the moment I knew I was pregnant, I wanted to crochet a baby blanket.

First I had to choose the right material. It had to be a natural yarn, that wouldn't be too warm. That's an easy choice: cotton. I didn't want to crochet with a needle 3, because then it would never be finished in time. At wolplein.nl I found Drops Paris, cotton suitable for needle size 5.
Toen op zoek naar een patroon of idee. Ik had al een tijdje twee dingen in m'n hoofd, die ik graag wilde maken. Een deken van grannysquares en zo'n chevron deken. Moeilijke keuze… Dus maar even aan John gevraagd wat hij mooier vindt, even voorbeeldjes laten zien op Pinterest en dat was duidelijk. John vond de grannysquares het mooist. Grannysquares it is!

Then the choice for a pattern came up. I always wanted to crochet a granny square blanket or a chevron blanket. Tough choice! So I asked what John liked most, I showed some ideas on Pinterest and he liked the granny squares the most. Grannysquares it is!
Nu had ik me ook nog in m'n hoofd gehaald om de grannysquares diagonaal te verwerken (als zoute lapjes zeg maar) en ik wilde ook dat het een deken werd met een rechte rand. Daarvoor zou ik dus ook halve vierkanten moeten haken. Ik heb dus gekozen voor een eenvoudige grannysquare, die ik makkelijk ook in een halve versie zou kunnen maken.

I had the idea to work up the granny squares diagonal, like diamonds, and I wanted a blanket that had straight edges. So I also had to crochet half granny squares. So I chose a pattern for a pretty straightforward granny square, that I could easily make as a half version.

Ik zocht 10 kleuren uit en bestelde daar elk 1 van. Eerst maar eens kijken hoeveel vierkanten ik uit een bolletje kreeg en daarna opmeten hoeveel vierkanten er in een deken passen. Net geen 3 vierkanten uit een bolletje… Maar dat gaf niet, ik moest toch ook halve vierkanten haken.

Ik vond dat er toch nog een kleurtje bij mocht, en bestelde de rest van de bollen. Uiteindelijk heb ik in totaal 33 bollen gebruikt voor de vierkanten en 7 bollen voor de crème kleur om ze aan elkaar te haken en de rand.

Then I chose 10 colors and ordered 1 ball in every color. First I wanted to know how many squares I could make of one ball. Almost 3 squares form one ball… That's ok, I had to make a lot of half squares too :)

Then I figured I wanted to add one color and ordered the rest of the yarn. Eventually I used 33 balls for the colored squares and 7 balls of the cream color that i used to attach the squares en make the edge.

Ik heb de vierkanten aan elkaar gehaakt met halve stokjes, voor een mooie opstaande rand. Eerst van rechts boven naar links beneden, en daarna de andere kant. Uiteindelijk ook helemaal rondom gehaakt met halve stokjes en daar weer de geschulpte rand op gehaakt.

I used half double crochet (USA) / half treble (UK) to attach them together. First from the upper right site to the left down sight, and then the other way. Finally I crocheted an edge with half double crochet (USA) / half treble (UK) all around and ended it with a scalloped edge.
Het was een ontzettend leuk project om te doen! En ben erg blij met het resultaat! Ik ben heel blij met de kleurencombinatie en ondanks dat ik zelf het patroon heb bedacht* (had ik nog niet eerder gedaan) pakte alles goed uit en heb ik weinig frustratie gehad en gelukkig ook niet veel over hoeven doen.

It was such a fun project! And I'm very pleased with the result! I think the color combo worked out great and despite that I created the pattern myself** (never done that before) it worked out really good, almost no frustration and thank god, I didn't have the re-crochet a lot.
* Behalve de standaard grannysquare, die vond ik op Pinterest.
** Except the standard granny square, I found that on Pinterest.

Angry bird crochet hat

Huub is nogal gek van Angry Birds. Nogal idd, alles gaat bij Huub over Angry Birds, hij past zijn hele liedjes repertoire erop aan (Angry Bird ging uit varen, met zijn scheepje naar…). Hij had er al sokken en een shirt van, (erg leuk als die in de was zitten, by the way ;) ) en nu heeft hij ook een Angry Bird muts. Deze heb ik zelf gehaakt, naar eigen ontwerp. Ik had een foto gezien die ik leuk vond en heb dat na gemaakt.
Eerste kerstdag heb ik een paar foto's van Huub en z'n muts gemaakt.

Huub is crazy about Angry Birds lately. Everything is about Angry Birds, he even sings songs about them. He already had socks and a shirt (not very funny when they're in the laundry and he wants to wear them…) and now he has an Angry Bird hat too. I've crocheted it myself, to my own design. I saw a picture on Pinterest I liked and tried to copy that.
On Christmas day I took some photo's of Huub with his hat.

Autumn

De herfst is gearriveerd, tijd voor een sjaal om je nek! Heerlijk, ik ben dol op sjaals.

Deze heb ik vorig jaar gehaakt van sokkenwol. Nu hou ik niet zo van breien en sokken breien leek/lijkt me nou niet zo leuk. Maar ik vond de wol zo mooi, dat ik er een puntsjaal van heb gemaakt. Het patroon heb ik van Ravelry gehaald (GRATIS! :) ) en er mijn eigen draai aan gegeven met een schulprandje en de twee touwtjes zodat het wat makkelijker knoopt.

Nu kwam ik er tijdens het haken achter dat deze sokkenwol niet zo lekker voelt aan je handen (jeuk) dus zeker niet aan mijn tere nek...

Dus heb ik aan de binnenkant stof (t-shirt achtig) genaaid. Dus hij voelt lekker en is warm!

Autumn has arrived, time for a scarf around your neck! I love to wear scarfs.
This one I made last year of sockwool. I don't like knitting very much and it didn't seem like fun to make sock. But I liked the wool so much I decided to crochet a scarf of it.
I got the pattern on Ravelry (FREE! :)) en gave it my own style by adding a scallopped edge and two strings at the ends so the tying would be easyer.
While crocheting I came across a little problem... the wool was itching on my hands, imagine what it would do to my frail neck...
So I sewed a peice of T-shirt like fabric on the inside. So now it feels soft and very warm!

Strik / Bow

Soms komt er zomaar een idee op, voer je het uit en lukt het ook!
Zo kwam ik laatst op het idee om een strik te haken en op een haarspeld te bevestigen.

Zo heb ik het gemaakt:
Ik heb drie kleuren katoen gebruikt van Phildar. Om en om 2 toeren met vasten. Toen het lapje groot genoeg was voor de speld heb een klein bandje gehaakt van ook twee toeren en die eromheen vast genaaid. Vervolgens heb de strik met super sterke dubbelzijdige tape op de speld bevestigd.

Sometimes I have an idea, make it happen and it works out!
The other day I thought of crocheting a bow and make a hairclip of of it.

This is how I made it:
I picked 3 colors of cotton by Phildar. Then I hooked two rows of every color with single crochet stitches untill the piece was big enough to cover the hairclip. Then I made a small piece of two rows odf single crochets and sewed it around the first piece. Then I taped the bow onto the hairclip with superstrong double-sighted-tape.

Crochet garland / gehaakte bloemenslinger

                  

Ik had zin in een klein haakprojectje. Ik zie op Pinterest vaak van die leuke slingers met bloemetjes eraan, dus dat leek me leuk om een keertje te maken. 

Eerst kleurtjes kiezen, mijn favoriete gedeelte van een nieuw haakproject! Ik heb een aantal kleuren uit m'n 'stash' (zo'n leuk woord :) ) gekozen, het is allemaal katoen van Phildar.

Daarna heb ik een patroon gekozen uit 1 van de weinige haakboeken  die ik heb (ok, ik heb 2 haakboeken...) "100 bloemen om te haken en te breien" van Lesley Stanfield, uitgeverij Librero*. Het patroon 41 'Nieskruid' heb ik gebruikt, alleen heb ik 2 kleuren per bloem gebruikt, in plaats van 3. 

En daarna bloemetjes haken, telkens een andere kleurcombinatie totdat ik het genoeg vond. Vervolgens heb ik de bloemetjes met een kettingsteek tot een slinger gemaakt. Easy Peasy Lemon squeezy!

* Prima boek voor een beginner. Staat vol bloemen om veel technieken uit te proberen.

I was feeling like a small crochet project. On Pinterest I see a lot of crochet garlands with flowers, I thought it would be fun to make one. 

First I chose colors yarn for the project, my favorite part of starting a new project! I've picked them all form my stash, they're all cotton from Phildar.

After that I chose a pattern from one of the few crochet books I have (ok, I actually only have 2 crochet books...) '100 Flowers to Knit and Crochet' by Lesley Stanfield, Quarto inc. I've used pattern 41. But I only used two colors per flowers instead of three.

And after that I started to crochet the flowers, every flower in a different color combination. Untill I thought I had enough. Then I crocheted them together with a chain stitch and made them into a garland. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! 

* A good book for starters. A lot of different pattern for flowers to pratice all kinds of techniques.

My cup of tea

Eigenlijk heb ik deze cupcozy's afgelopen winter al gemaakt. Toen heb ik er al 1 op deze blog gedeeld, maar nog niet samen. 

Ik heb katoen van Phildar gebruikt en 1 kleur is van Schachenmayr.

Actually I've made these cupcozies last winter. I've shared one on this blog back then, but not together.

I used cotton of Phildar and one color is from Schachenmayr.

Finally, it is done!

Na meer dan een jaar haken is mijn eerste kleed een feit! Champagne! 

Natuurlijk niet alleen maar dit project gedaan het afgelopen jaar, maar dit is wel het grootste project dat ik heb afgemaakt.
